New York, London, Paris, Milan….the fashion week is now over and I’m going to get you ready for the fall 2018! None of it is new to me as all of the trends somehow been here since I was little (I’m a 90’s kid 🙂 ) and they all come and go, yes Roland, that’s why I can’t throw any of my clothes out as I never know when I might need them, lol!
1. WESTERN
Practical daywear for all those boho hippie lovers! High necks offset with corset detailing and hitched up skirts, leather pants, shirts with yolk detailing, blanket capes and cowboy boots!
An obvious must-have is the fringe trim. Last winter this detail picked up for the first time outside of festival season. In Fall 2018, bring fringe into accessories (especially belts and bags), knitwear, dresses and leather clothing.
2. TECHNICAL OUTWEAR
For Fall 2018, taking attention off the now controversial fur coats was technical rainwear and performance puffers. Off-White and Balenciaga played with super-sized proportions, while Dior and Givenchy gave the classic rain trench a cape-like makeover. Whether it’s high-shine, or the most innovative rubberized surfaces, the message is coming through: the “I took a taxi here” days of winter fashion are over, today it’s cooler to dress for tackling the weather head-on.
3. 80’s
Decade of inspirations which will be with us forever!
Designers are still loving the the exaggerated silhouettes and unexpected proportions of 1980s-era. It’s powerful and attention-grabbing style. From evening wear to coats and jackets however not so much in footwear.
4. SHINE AND SPARKLE
Glitter, sequins, metal anything that shines and any colour! Fully-sequinned fabrics were everywhere over the last month! These are usually the most expensive designer pieces and are perfect for a party season or just all year round if you’re brave enough.
5. SOLID STRIPES
Bold stripes speak of summer sun. That’s all part of the fun that designers were having for Fall 2018, taking unseasonal colors and prints for a hit of the unexpected.
6. MODEST DRESSES
Maybe it’s increased fashion industry inclusivity. Or perhaps a move away from fluffier notions of femininity. Or it could be the luxury knowing the commercial promise of regions where modest apparel is standard. Call it what you will, designers showed more dresses that were long in sleeve and hem and high in neckline. In daywear, these can be longline shirt dresses, or roll necked knits. For evening, they are beautiful in velvet or silk.
And what do I say about these? I LOOOOVE THEM! <3
My all time fav is definitely the western trend as that’s the one I’m living in every summer (loving that hippie chic style) so to wear it from summer, through the fall to winter will be awesome! Btw I’ve just bought some western boots too. Also, I have always loved anything that sparkles so gimme that Balmain suit!!!! That is wayyyy too cool! Stripes I will definitely start pulling off sooner than winter as I already bought myself blue stripe Topshop pants. That also applies for long sleeve dresses as I love wearing those on “hot” english summer days lol. In terms of the 80’s trend, I will try not to spend my money on that one on high street as I think I should be able to find some awesome bargains in vintage shops!
Well so happy shopping ladies!
What are you favourite trends for fall 2018???
